  • the switch has come on

    So...

I'm watching Dr. Phil and there is this crazy family on here. The dad has chosen to be unemployed and he keeps thinking that God is telling him to get into these crazy business ventures. And that's when the lightbulb came on. I used to struggle with deciphering what God is telling me to do and what I have chosen to do. I used to think that everything that I went through God brought me to it. And from what I am understanding that isn't necessarily true. It's simple, all I had to do was think: I make my own conscious choices ergo there will be results.

Tell me what you guys think.

I think you got it. :)

Although I think there are many Christians who would disagree... because for a lot of us, it's so much easier to go through trials and tribulations (you like those words, right?) if we think it's because God wants us to. He might, he might not, but we definitely have WAY more choice about what happens to us than some of us want to believe.

Having said that, I choose to take something out of everything I go through... whether it was because of my own poor choices or not... no sense in struggling through something and learning nothing, right?

You aer absolutely 100% correct.  You have learned at a young age what many never learn or learn almost too late.  I'm proud of you.  Ashley is correct we can learn something from whatever we go through.  But one of the things I love about God the most is that He allows us to choose--He is not a dictator.  We've been saying that well 'forever' but one has to be ready to hear it and know it's truth.  Keep learning about God and building your relationship with Him. You are one smart 'cookie'   love ya
